This blog has been created to try and discuss various subjects that have been known to cause many arguments. These subjects relate to local and world issues.
After various emails on these subjects, it is clear that many people hold either out of date or very right wing opinions. Also, even if we are untouched directly by some things, people can have very strong opinions that end with a heated debate.
Sometimes, people state facts that that create tension and then feel that they may have to back down or walk away, because (a) it gets too deep and they start mis-quoting or (b)they dont know enough to carry on.
So here comes the 'blog' a chance to collect your thoughts and not mis-represent yourself by saying something in the heat of discussion.

I think this site should be more than just the topics listed at the top. It may be that we quite soon realise either that each party is too entrenched, or that we run out of ideas. Putting the World to Rights could cover a lot of ground.
The Palestinian problem is a classic one in these modern times. It is just the front line of the long war between the countries who are ruled by religious sects and those ruled by democracy and capitalism.
Though Hamas is determined to destroy Israel, it has also done good to the Palestinian people, a real hearts and minds job.
To the civilians on each side of the border of Israel it really doesn't make a lot of difference whether you are killed in a massive bomb planted on a bus or on the roadside or by cluster bombs and rockets. The intention is still the same by the fighters - kill people on the other side in the hope of demoralising them or causing a change of policy or a change of government.
History of the region has brought us to the position that exists in the region at this time. I don't see there is any way of undoing this situation. Israel is not going to go away.
The only solution I think is for Hamas to renounce its determination to destroy Israel.
Although it took decades and countless murders and bombings, the situation in Northern Ireland looks like it might be on the road to a long term peace. Though the history of deaths on each side will probably never be erased from memories or written histories of the peoples there.
Toenail.
Thanks for your comment toenail. I have removed the topics from the top.
I have made some posts on those subjects to get the ball rolling.
Re: your Palestinian comment... I have made a post that covers the fact that they were close to peace talks with Israel, but they also were trying to oust the currupt Fata from Gaza. When they did this, all chance for peace with Hamas stopped... at least for the forseable future :(
